1st Sunday of Advent Reflection 2021

This Sunday, November 28th, 2021, is the First Sunday of Advent. Associate, Joan Fraser, of Truro, Nova Scotia, graciously volunteered to share her Advent Reflection as we wait in joyful anticipation for the birth of Jesus Christ.

Please take some quiet time to reflect on Joan's Advent sharing.

Hello, my name is Joan Fraser, and I have been an Associate with the CND, for quite a period of time. I was married to my husband George, for 64 and one half years, and cancer took his life in 2019.

We had 4 children, 2 boys, and 2 girls. We lost our oldest son also to cancer, 7 years ago… As “they say, Life goes on…

In my daily walk, I am very fortunate to enjoy my family, friends, and Associates… And, so, I present my interpretation of the 1st Sunday of Advent.

You know, for the First Sunday of Advent, I ask myself, am I vigilant, am I anxious, and what are my concerns down the road? Am I Spiritually awake?

Yes, I must always be vigilant, as Christ comes in unexpected ways…

Am I prepared? Would I have looked for a baby wrapped in straw? Who ever expected Christ to come in the form of bread (Eucharist).

Yes, Christ comes in many ways, and in many ways, of which I am not prepared… So, do I see Christ in everyday events?

Dear God, allow me to see beyond my limited vision, and allow my ears to hear the Joy of your message.

I ask this in God’s name, Amen.
