40th Anniversary of the Canonization of Marguerite Bourgeoys
In 2020, before the events related to the COVID-19 pandemic and the lockdown that disrupted everyone’s schedule, the Sisters of the Congrégation de Notre-Dame were preparing to celebrate the 400th anniversary of the birth of their foundress, Saint Marguerite Bourgeoys. Time has passed and if this event to celebrate together was a missed opportunity, so be it! It is with joy that we celebrate each new occasion to remember the life and work of Saint Marguerite and her daughters.
The 40th anniversary of the canonization of Marguerite Bourgeoys will be marked on October 31, 2022. Pope John Paul II celebrated the Mass of Canonization in Rome on this day in 1982, and the event brought together hundreds of people at a celebration later held at the Montreal Forum on November 26, 1982.
The Sisters of the Congrégation de Notre-Dame and associates will gather for a Commemorative Mass presided by Mgr Faubert on November 5, 10:30 at Notre-Dame-de-Bon-Secours Chapel, a chapel initially built on Marguerite’s initiative. This celebration will also emphasize other significant moments in the history of the Congregation, namely its 50 years of presence in Cameroon (2020); 60 years of presence in Honduras (2022); and 90 years of presence in Japan (2022). Added to these anniversaries is the 40th anniversary of Associate Relationship of the Congregation.
The bilingual celebration will be live on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/CongregationDeNotreDame) and a recording will be made available.

Let us celebrate together, in union of prayer. Magnificat!
