4th Sunday of Advent
Micah 5: 2-5a
Hebrews 10: 5-10
Luke 1: 39-55
I’m Winnie from a tiny little fishing community in an easterly part of Cape Breton. You could consider me a ‘seasoned associate’ formed with the New Victoria Associate Group – welcomed to Associate Relationship on May 31, 2000 and I was in formation for 2 years under the guidance and leadership of Sister Gwen O’Neil, CND, a daughter of our Beloved Saint Marguerite Bourgeoys.
When Marguerite left Troyes, France in 1653 she took very little with her, in fact, all she carried was held in the “Baluchon” that rested on a stick on her shoulder. These were material items but in her heart she carried the promise and trust made to her on Rosary Sunday “go, I will never abandon you.” These words were offered to her by the Mother of Jesus, our Heavenly mother Mary – Marguerite trusted in this truth.
It’s another day, Mary is found to be with child, she is young, she is single, what will people think? Mary is now being called to trust, to trust in the promise made to her by the Lord. Mary put flesh on these words of God and knew that they would be fulfilled through her.
How about you, what are you being called to trust in, what will be your “fiat” as we await the great arrival of the Bethlehem Babe as we live this 4th Sunday of Advent?
