Advent in Kingston
On Saturday evening we had a beautiful prayer service in the chapel to begin the season Advent. The theme this year chosen by our Liturgy Committee is Awaken to the Reckless, Cosmic Love of God. During the service, Sister Frances O'Brien, SP, delivered a stirring reflection on the theme where she related it to the times in which we live.
How bleak it would be if we did not firmly believe that God is always with us…. Our task is to allow a transformation of our consciousness to know Love’s presence in every moment of life, in the high points of joy and in the tragedies and sorrows, as well as in the mundane moments of every day life.
The evening hymn was “Reckless Love” by Corey Asbury.
“Oh the overwhelming, never-ending, reckless love of God.
Oh, it chases me down, fights till I’m found, leaves the ninety-nine.
I couldn’t earn it, and I don’t deserve it, still You give Yourself away. Oh, the overwhelming, never-ending, reckless love of God.”
