General Conference – Day 4

CND General Chapter 2026 Process Conversation

After a break day, the General Conference resumed Thursday, January 16, 2025 with our meeting time changing from morning in North America to late afternoon. The result of this time change meant that now our Sisters in Cameroon were the ones up late at night and our Sisters in Japan were the very early risers!

Despite the hour of the morning in Japan, we were lead in a beautiful prayer for peace in our world and harmony in all of God’s creation by our sisters from there. We prayed together “God, make all things new with your breath.”

Our focus then turned to the 2026 General Chapter and its key components. Realizing that this Chapter will be held at a unique moment in our Congregation’s history, the discussion centered around how we can make it as inclusive as possible for the entire Congregation. The road to Chapter 2026 will be like a pilgrimage with different steps and ways of participating along the route. Time was spent on these different steps and how to facilitate the participation for each member in all areas of the Congregation as we travel the route. It was a time of rich, honest sharing – a very good beginning to our pilgrimage of hope!
