Home Based Housing in Kingston

In the spirit of St. Marguerite Bourgeoys, Congregation de Notre Dame Sisters and Associates in the Kingston, Ontario region have a long history of supporting Home Based Housing for ending homelessness and helping to rebuild lives. Our support continued during the pandemic and for this past Christmas. Donations were collected supporting the purchase of personal items, treats and gift cards. The students of St. Marguerite Bourgeoys School also joined in with donations.

Home Based Housing develops affordable, supportive and transitional housing. It is a non- profit organization that provides a range of supportive housing in Kingston since 1987. HBH programs are open to single adults, families, youth and members of marginalized groups with a range of life experiences and challenges. These may include homelessness, financial issues, substance abuse, mental health issues, developmental disabilities, head injury or physical disability. Staff work to help tenants live independently. When individuals are provided with a secure ‘home base’ they can begin addressing the issues which lead to a cycle of chronic homelessness.
