Indigenous Legacy Gathering 2023

On Saturday, Sept. 30, we visited the Indigenous Legacy Gathering at Nathan Phillips Square, Toronto. Unfortunately, we missed the presentation on the Spirit Garden Project, but we did tour the site where the project is being constructed. The plan is that the project, which has been supported by Visitation Province, will be completed in 2024 and promises to be creative, colourful, intriguing and informative. Meanwhile, Nathan Phillips Square was filled with teepees featuring a variety of organizations, crafts and workshops. There was also a big screen and stage that offered interviews, dances, teachings, songs and hand drums. As a part of its evening light show, the CN Tower was lit in orange to commemorate the Indigenous Legacy Gathering and Orange Shirt Day. Next year, we may actually see the completed Spirit Garden.
