Kindness

"Let there be kindness in your face, in your eyes, in your smile,
In the warmth of your greeting–Don't only give your care,
but give your heart as well"

It is a busy day at the mall and I am there.
Am I  the person  holding the sign, looking for
              HUMAN KINDNESS?
Am I the passerby ignoring the needs
of one of God's beloved?
Where are my thoughts?
How am I feeling as I take in my surroundings?
What is the voice of God saying to my heart?
"It is not from your own goods that you give
to the begger; it is a portion of his own that you
are restoring to him.  The earth belongs to all
So you are paying back a debt and think you are
making a gift to which you are bound" (St. Ambrose)
What  gifts am I asked to give  today?
What sign am I holding expressing my needs?
"If today you hear God's voice harden not your heart"
Every act of kindness and compassion done
and received is done and receives by Christ
working within me.
I PRAY: God of kindness and mercy.
your constant love for me is beyond
my understanding.  Touch my heart,
open my ears so that I may hear your
voice.  Help me to be kind to myself
so that I may pour out the gift of your
KINDNESS to others.
