Leaving a Lasting Legacy to St. Jean’s: Windows Of Opportunity Dedication
Alumnae, current and past parishioners, board members, administrators, friends, family, and students gathered last week for the dedication of our restored historic stained glass windows. Launched in the fall of 2020, the Windows of Opportunity Campaign raised money to repair the auditorium windows while also providing funds for emergency tuition assistance during the pandemic.
Peg Breen, President of The New York Landmarks Conservancy, who discussed the connection between conservation and faith, described the organization’s Sacred Sites Program which kicked off the campaign for SJB with a matching grant. Artisan Patrick Clark, who did the restoration work, put the windows in a historical context for guests. He has done restoration projects for more than 100 houses of worship including our own St. Jean Baptiste Church. Our pastor, the Rev. John Kamas, SSS blessed each window and the donor family who dedicated it. Each window now has a plaque with a unique message composed by the individual donor.
