Litany of Peace in Time of War
Response: Lord, by your cross and resurrection, you have set us free. You are the Savior of the world.
We stand in the strength of your love which is stronger than death…
We weep with all who suffer from acts of violence…
We mourn with all in the Holy Land.
We honor all who risk their lives to save others…
We trust all who have died into your arms of mercy…
We trust all who have caused the violence to your mercy as well…
We pray for the millions of refugees…
We pray for the displaced children…
We acknowledge the revenge in our own hearts…
We pray for the grace to forgive…
We repent of our dependency on military solutions to human problems…
We repent of violence in our own lives and families…
We pray for the love to embrace all people as your brothers and sisters…
We trust in your care for us at all times…
We speak peace, even while suffering violence…
We pray for the children in the war.
We celebrate the triumph of your cross…
Your creation groans, O Christ. There is pain and fear. Your family hurts. Hear our cry for our brothers and sisters who suffer violence, for their families, for the perpetrators and their families, for all our war-weary world. Turn us to prayers and acts of peace rather than violence. We pray this through your sacred body and blood given for our salvation. Amen.
