Mémoire vivante
The long-awaited production of Mémoire vivante took place this past Saturday at Notre-Dame-de-Bon-Secours Chapel. Most of you will remember that this was initially created as a signature event as part of the Marguerite 400 celebrations in 2020. But with COVID, it was not to be. Though scaled down from the original concept, the chapel proved to be a fitting venue.
Marguerite’s memory was very much alive in this “conférence dialoguée” between host Sabrina DiMatteo and Denys Chouinard, former archivist of the Congrégation de Notre-Dame, with the participation of the vocal ensemble Voci Giovani, under the musical direction of Alfred Legrenade and titular organist Benoit Marineau. The production was directed by Sister Violaine Paradis, CND, (who also plays the lead role in St. Marguerite Bourgeoys).
While the presentation itself was entirely in French, the script was provided to English-speaking attendees. I am told that the video (currently on the chapel YouTube page beginning at 19-minute mark) will soon be subtitled or dubbed into English.
