Mini-Retreat with Associates at Holy Redeemer Convent, Sydney, NS, Sept. 27

A group of CND Associates and involved Sister companions gathered to share conversation concerning the upcoming synod in Rome. “The World, …the Church… the Pope…and All of Us.” Marjorie and I presented some of our learnings about the theme and invited the ideas and concerns of those present. Also, we spoke about the structure and organization of the synod: who will attend, who can vote, what happens next.

In our brief time together, we looked at contemporary issues and concerns around us, and we sang We’ve Got the Whole World in Our Hands. We heard some thoughts about “change” and “newness;” about outmoded language and how we might move to “invitational language” in our Church and use inclusive language. We listed some of the major concerns, questions and requests that have been sent to Rome from parishes, individuals and groups for consideration at the synod.

We expressed our hope that we, all of us, everywhere, will receive and embrace the decisions and outcomes from the synod and move forward into new times.
