Burial Ceremony for Sister Kinuyo Anzai
On January 8, the burial ceremony for Sister Maria Imelda Anzai Kinuyo was held, officiated by Father Charles Aime Bolduc. Her family, the Provincial Leader Shizuko Endo and several sisters were in attendance. Winter was Sister Anzai’s favourite season, and in the morning, Mt. Shinobu was covered with snow. By the time the ceremony began, the sky was bright blue, reminding us of the dignified appearance of Sister Anzai. It was the first time we buried ashes since the tomb’s renovation, and it seemed fitting for Sister Anzai. She was the first sister to reach over 100 years old (she celebrated her 101st birthday in December) since the CND came to Japan.
