Sister Norma Gallant, CND, Trail-Rossland Citizen of the Year 2025
What great joy was present at the official proclamation of our Citizen of the Year, the first of celebrations to be held at the outset of Trail’s annual Silver City Days. Although it is locally sponsored and organized by the Knights of Columbus, the judges are not KC’s, and selection is made anonymously by people outside of that group. The gymnasium was full, and many beautiful tributes were made by local dignitaries and then from several people from the audience who also came forward when that invitation was made, many sharing personal touching moments when Norma suddenly appeared in their world and came to journey with them in their difficulties. Of note, is her loving, joyful, compassionate, mentoring service with many, as well as many of her church and local endeavours. As you will see, it is her presence that has been deemed worthy of this
recognition, above and beyond any of her many accomplishments.

Celebration at Andrews of Charlottetown
A special gathering of joy and friendship was held at Andrews of Charlottetown to celebrate Sister Mary Gillis’ 90th Birthday and Mother’s Day. We started with a short prayer, best wishes and blessings for Mary. Singing Happy Birthday and enjoying a delicious ice-cream treat was a highlight of the party with Sister Mary’s sharing of memories of gone-bye days. The gathering was enjoyed by all.

‘The Life of St. Marguerite Bourgeoys, as Told in Story and Song’
Last week in Kingston we were honoured, blessed and thoroughly impressed by the play, ‘The Life of St. Marguerite Bourgeoys, As Told in Story and Song’. This was presented by the St. Marguerite Bourgeoys Catholic School Choir. 22 students presented it to the school and CND Sisters as invited guests. The play in its original form, was written by Sister Emily Doherty, CND. Music was composed by Sister Eleanor Monahan, CND. The right to edit and reproduce the playlet was given August 2019 and first presented in December, 2019. From the flyer “Thank you to our own Sisters of the Congregation of Notre Dame. You have blessed our community with your lifelong service. May God forever bless you! We are grateful to have had the opportunity to give our school community the chance to learn more about their patron Saint through this production”. Special blessings and thank you to Alison, Choir Director, who is a great friend of CND Sisters and Associates and retires this year.
