Thanksgiving Jubilee Celebration Thanksgiving Day at Parkland had extra significance for all of us, in that we celebrated the Religious Jubilee of Sisters Harriet MacNeil, and Elaine Hawrylak, who together gave 130 years of extraordinary service to others. Their brilliant giftedness especially in Art, Music, and Song has been well known, sought, and appreciated by large audiences over a period of years.
In their incredible journey of service throughout the Congregation de Notre-Dame Community, Elaine and Harriet have been dedicated Educators, and an inspiration to students, parents, and friends. At Parkland, Cape Breton, Thanksgiving evening brought us together in prayer, celebration, laughter, song, tasty food, and an opportunity to “Roast and Toast!” Our celebration made us more deeply aware how very much we love, care, and share in the true spirit of Thanksgiving! May the years ahead for Sr. Harriet and Sr. Elaine, bring choice blessings of good health, joy, and peace in abundance.

Blue Community Webinar – October 12, 2022
Paul Baines, Coordinator with csj, and Sister Anne Kargas, csj, led us CND Sisters and Associates in an informative webinar. We were asking for a review of and a bit of current information about Canada’s water concerns and issues in our quest to continue towards our goal of becoming a Blue Community. The session was recorded and will be made available through YouTube. Sister Karen copied the list of resources listed in the chat room and will forward these to us. Eventually we will apply to the Council of Canadians with our pledge of what we want to do through reflection, education, advocacy and service. We know we want to recognize and celebrate the sacredness of water; we want to know more about the watersheds where we live; and we seek ways of partnering with other groups to stress that water and sanitation are human rights.
