News from Visitation Province

May 31, Feast of the Visitation in Kingston

Sisters and associates gathered at St. Joseph Church Hall with special guests Sisters Becky McKenna, Visitation Province Leader, and Karen Kelly, Councillor for Visitation Province to renew vows and commitments. This was the first Feast of the Visitation gathering in person since 2019. The hall had been decorated with daisy bud vases on each table, Visitation, and CND information plus roses donated by CND Associate Marlene. Conversation was palpable and smiles overflowing with everyone visiting and enjoying one another’s company.

After a prayer service including recognition of 40 years of associate relationship, Indigenous reconciliation, and renewal of vows and commitments, food and beverages were enjoyed. Set up was arranged by church staff with Associate Barb as our link. One rose was given to each sister and associate upon leaving. A birthday card was signed by all for Monsignor Joe Lynch, pastor at St. Joseph`s, who recently celebrated 80 years of life. With thanks to the set-up and clean-up team, and Marlene for adding to the joy of our gathering. – Mary Myers, Associate

Associates in Miramichi, NB meet for Retreat Day

Monday, June 6, Miramichi Associates met at the Bartibogue Retreat House for a retreat day. Our theme was Grace and Gratitude, based on reflections on the Second Half of Life by Richard Rohr from his book, Falling Upward. Sister Eleanor McCloskey from Fredericton was our facilitator. We shared life stories, prayer intentions we carry, laughter (to promote wellness) and renewed friendship.

It was a good day to get together. Rosamond and I were pleased to work together with everyone to make it happen. – Frances Connell Enriquez, Associate

Book Recommendation

“Embers” by Richard Wagamese offering brief reflections on his lived experiences and relationship with the Creator. In Acknowledgements he writes, "We carry the embers of all the things that burned and raged in us. Pains and sorrows, to be sure, but also triumphs, joys, victories and moments of clear-eyed vision…My journey has been blessed by folks who stuck around until the miracle happened and I could begin to become the person I was created to be."
