Retreat at Andrews of Charlottetown
We were fortunate enough to have a 3-day Retreat presented by Fr. Keith Kennific from St. Dunstan's Basilica. The theme of the retreat was "THE WORD OF GOD." We reflected on the WORD OF GOD as: PRESENCE, STORY, WINDOW, MIRROR, CHALLENGE/REASSURANCE and MADE FLESH.
Using Psalms 135 and 148 together and Psalms 23 and 35, he emphasized that the psalms invite us to be part of a journey. We were invited to ask ourselves where we see ourselves in the psalm, in what way is the psalm a mirror into ourselves, how is the psalm calling us to be " The Word Made Flesh " in our world? The Word of Jesus becomes flesh in us, and we become the presence of Christ in our world which is " expressed to the fullest in our participation in the celebration of Eucharist."

National Child Day is celebrated in Canada on November 20 each year to recognize our country’s commitment to upholding the rights of children, and two historic events: the 1959 signing of the UN Declaration of the Rights of the Child and the adoption of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child in 1989.
This year’s theme is the right to participate.
Children have the right to participate in activities such as play, family, culture, and learning. They also have the right to participate when decisions are made about them. Children have rights. The United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child outlines 54 articles that provide a guide to what will help in raising healthy and happy children and youth, empowered to participate in decision- making through activities that help grow their voice and confidence. Is there a way we can help uphold and realize the rights of children everywhere?

2022 Winner of The Governor General's Literary Award for Non-fiction (English) by Eli Baxter for his memoir Aki-wayn-zih: A Person as Worthy as the Earth written in both Ojibwe and English. He is an Anishanaabe and member of the Marten Falls First Nation and a survivor of the Canadian Indian residential school system. He has taught indigenous language and culture at both the elementary school and university levels.

Movie Recommendation
Ticket to Paradise: starring George Clooney and Julia Roberts is an entertaining romantic comedy. They play a long- divorced couple who are constantly in conflict when they are together. They do share a love for their daughter and when they hear on a vacation to Bali after university graduation, she has become engaged to a seaweed farmer they decide to go there to get her to change her mind and return to the US. Humorous moments, beautiful setting and life lessons learned by all.
