Movie recommendation

The Color Purple is a modern musical drama movie based on Alice Walker’s novel from the early eighties. The story spans some forty years in the difficult life of Celie, a black woman living in Georgia in the early twentieth century.

The music is lively and energizing, the choreography is fast-moving and professional, tying together the tough times and the better times for Celie and the people in her world. Three women find ways to bond and work towards some independence and empowerment. They support each other; they understand resilience and even forgiveness. This updated presentation of the novel from years ago may bring viewers strength and hope that things can change.
