Meeting of JPIC Core Committee

The JPIC Core Committee met on ZOOM on Tuesday, February 20. We are once again working without a JPIC Coordinator. Members agree we have a strong committee of dedicated members, with experience in working together and a passion for justice, peace and integrity of creation, as our name says. We will carry on with projects begun. Next month, on World Water Day, March 22, we will be launching our membership as a Blue Community. The Committee is planning to meet in Montreal in March.

Development and Peace – Share Lent 2024

Reaping Our Rights

A mini-booklet, with this year’s theme for Development and Peace Share Lent was distributed in many parishes on the First Sunday of Lent. Their work focuses on . . . (1) climate and ecological justice; (2) democracy and citizen participation; (3) justice for women; (4) peace and reconciliation; and (5) humanitarian aid. Especially in the Global South, but also in many places on our Earth, persons living in poverty are facing growing challenges due to climate change, land grabbing, theft of resources, soil contamination and armed conflict. Rural populations are particularly affected.

Development and Peace supports them in defending their rights – the right to life, land, water, justice, health, participation, decent livelihoods, a healthy environment and more. D & P asks for our support in any way we can respond or encourage support.
