A Kingston Gathering on St. Patrick’s Day

On Sunday, March 17, Kingston sisters and associates gathered at St. Joseph Church Hall to celebrate, not only St. Patrick’s Day, but also one another. There was a variety of St. Patrick’s Day decorations of shamrocks and top hats with so much green, it felt like spring. A delicious sprinkle cake was topped with green icing.

The format and information of the CND forum in August in Montreal was shared with each table having their own frank discussion about ” a call to decolonize the Congregation de Notre- Dame… to better participate in the humanization of the world”. The conversation was animated with much energy and respect. Flowers were sent home for Sister Patricia Arsenault for her St. Patrick’s Day birthday. Thank you to all who attended, and we missed those unable to be present. We are looking forward to the Congregational Leadership visit in May.

JPIC Committee Meeting in Montreal of Sisters and Associates

The JPIC Committee met in Montreal this past week. We had some serious planning business on our agenda, and some enjoyable planning as we were finally moving into the actual Blue Community contract signing! This has been a long-awaited event!

Sister Karen introduced the 2023-2025 Social Action Plan and its link to the Laudato Si plan. We examined the details, discussed how it links to all that we are already doing, and began looking at suggestions and ideas we may be able to work on.

We joined a Zoom from ORCIE (Office of Religious Congregations for Integral Ecology) in a lively presentation on lobbying strategies. One of our committee members, associate Heather, will be heading to Ottawa at the end of our meeting, to join other ORCIE members to represent our Province in a lobbying day on Parliament Hill.
