Birthday Celebrations Sister Catherine MacPhee, Sydney, Nova Scotia

A special celebration was held at the CND Health Centre on March 21th. Sister Catherine Mac Phee celebrated her 109th birthday. She was surrounded by family and friends. Father Bill Burke gave her a blessing for this amazing occasion. Sister Elaine Hawrylak and Sister Simone Abbass provided music and song. Sister Loretta MacLennan gave a toast and all raised their glasses in celebration.

A Surprise Guest and Surprise Visitors in Montre

Sister Dorothy Maher from Mary of Peace Community in Montreal experienced two very special visitations recently.   For the St. Patrick’s Day party, Sister Patricia O’Neill was a surprise guest arranged by Carmie Rizzo, one of our coordinators. They hadn’t seen each other for several years.

Then last week, three former students came to visit. They were so thrilled to see Dorothy after almost sixty-five years! Left to right: Betsy Hutchinson, Maureen Mullally and Sharon Wall. “We had a fine time visiting with her and we will be returning to see her again. She is a delight! We have fond memories of her as our teacher and now we are all senior citizens together!”

We at Mary of Peace Community rejoice with Dorothy for these very special visitations!

KUDOS to the JPIC Committee and all of us in Visitation Province!

I was very moved by the video of Visitation Province becoming a Blue Community which Becky McKenna signed for all of us on March 22, 2024. We have been waiting for this moment for a long time, as we were reminded of its necessity for life; what we can do to save water, to protect it from pollution, to see it as a person with rights, and much more. Thank you to all who have been part of this journey.
