Renew – Toronto, November 23-24, 2024

About eight hundred (800) young adults, organizers and exhibitors participated in Renew Toronto this year! The central theme was “Those who put their hope in God, run without being weary” Isaiah 40:31. A married couple led morning and afternoon reflection sessions on the central theme, focusing on the importance of discerning our friendships and being rooted in God. When we are rooted in God, no matter what the challenges are, we can move forward without getting tired. The challenges we face become a source of transformation. In addition, there was a Eucharist and a time of adoration during which those who wished could experience the sacrament of reconciliation.

During break times, young people were able to visit the various kiosks. Around fifty young people took the time to visit us. It was an opportunity to introduce them to Marguerite Bourgeoys, invite them to take part in the draw and receive a tattoo of the CND cross. Prizes up for grabs included a book by Libby Osgood, CND, entitled “Green Saints for a Green Generation,” a picture of the Visitation, and a dinner with the Toronto area sisters. The youths were thrilled to be able to participate!

We were delighted and amazed to be able to talk with these young people and to see how they are committed to their faith and to the Church. We were also touched to hear what was going on inside of them, and how confident they were to share it with us spontaneously. Finally, what a joy it was to live this experience together in the name of mission (vocation ministry). As it was a long day, Sr. Sheila and Sr. Yvonne came as reinforcements! Many thanks to them!

We left Whitby around 8:30 p.m., a little tired but with hearts full of joy! Let’s continue to keep these young people in our prayers.
