Teaming Up to Speak Up!

On Saturday, April 6, CNWE (Catholic Network for Women’s Equality – NB) joined with Associates of the Sisters of Charity – Saint John, NB, to share in a Synodal Conversation Process. Women and men, clergy and lay people, shared a sacred time and prepared a presentation to forward to Sister Elizabeth Davis and also to Rome.

We followed a plan of listening, sharing, reflecting on what we heard at our tables (tables of 6), listening some more, and formulating the common threads into proposals.

The Sisters of Charity offered a meeting space at Ruth Ross Residence in Saint John and provided lunch. Some 40 or so (I didn’t count!) participants came from Saint John and surrounding parishes, plus Woodstock and Fredericton.

Our scripture reference was John 20:1-18. We experienced Easter joy as we prayed with Mary Magdalen, our concerns, questions, disappointments and hopes. Always our hopes. All were grateful to the organizers of this day that brought us together.
