The gift of giving

In early 2025, the Ontario government started mailing one-time $200 taxpayer rebates to all eligible adults in Ontario including our CND sisters. The government promoted this project as one way to help offset the impact of high interest rates and the federal carbon tax. Many CND sisters in the province of Ontario received these rebate cheques. Why not share these funds with those who are in need of financial help?

Given that the CND sisters are well cared for both materially and financially, a proposal was presented to the Province Administration Team to consider offering a donation in kind to three registered charities that offer support to those who struggle with basic needs. This proposal was accepted.

The total for the rebate payments that were deposited into the CND account was tallied and divided equally among charities in Kingston, Ottawa and Toronto.
