The Sisters of Andrews of Charlottetown enjoy the Solar Eclipse together

On April 8th, with such a historic moment happening over North America, many of the Sisters at Andrews of Charlottetown, gathered in the common room to follow the path of the Eclipse as its shadow crossed over North America.

As the afternoon went on, there was growing excitement. Some of the Sisters were able to walk outside and view the moon as it passed over the Sun, while others watched events happening on the big screen while experiencing darkness descend and then lift again.

There was something moving about being together to enjoy this event as a community. However, it seemed even more touching to realize that, for this one afternoon, many gathered in awe and wonder throughout North America. As we heard those who had first-hand experiences of the total eclipse, it was striking how many spoke about the spiritual feeling of oneness as we experienced God’s work in motion.

It was a privilege for me to share this moment with the CND Sisters living at Andrews of Charlottetown (and the staff at Andrews). As I reflect on our time together, I am reminded of the words of praise found in Psalm 19, verse 1: The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.
