There Is A Time For Everything
"For everything there is a season and a time for every matter under heaven"(Ecclesiastes 3: 1-8)
The clock stands on the mantle. I watch the pendulum swinging back and forth
as the minutes pass. That minute is gone. I will never be able to retrieve it.
"Time ages things, time deepens things, time ripen things… It brings everything to fulfillment.
I become more mature, more accepting, more serene. I have survived so much already,
what can possibly destroy my equanimity now"? (Joan Chittister)
How do I respond to Sr. Joan's question?
The pendulum speaks to me of balance. It swings from one side to the other.
How do I balance out my days and nights?
I do not know what tomorrow will bring.
"I am a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes" (Adapted James 4 :14)
What is life? A question I ponder as my minutes and days pass.
How am I living the present moment?
How do I wish to live this New Year?
"There actually is no time to waste anymore.
The now is no longer one moment on the way to another one.
It is everything there is to life" (Joan Chittister)
