TOYLAND at OUR LADY OF LOURDES PARISH
On Saturday, June 17, Our Lady of Lourdes Parish community held its annual bazaar on the parish grounds. Toyland occupied all of the priests’ backyard. Frances Cresswell continues to be the chief of toys. But she had lots of help from local Congregation de Notre-Dame Sisters and Associates and many toys to sell… at very good prices! Proceeds will be used to help with the costs of Church maintenance.
The weather was perfect; many people attended and most of the toys were either purchased or given away.
Lots of children and adults left the grounds hugging a stuffed animal, or a puzzle or a game that they seemed eager and happy to be holding. Joy was radiating!
The bazaar is only one of the pastoral outreaches engaged by the “toy ministry” that Frances has begun in the parish. It continues throughout the year. Toys are sent to northern Ontario and to other countries with connections to the present Jesuit pastoral team.
The bazaar was a huge success and a great day for all. We’ll let you know when next year’s event approaches. You may want to come to Toronto for a visit and a bazaar!
