Visit to New Brunswick

L-R Front Row: Adah Ogbe, Janice MacDougall, Edna Aucoin, Kevin MacDonald Back row, Theresa MacNeil, Terry O’Toole, Tom Penny, Rita O’Keefe, Patsy Mooring, Winnie Odo, Therese MacDonald, Kathy and Danny Gillis.

Theresa and Dianne MacAskill visited the Province of New Brunswick from Sept. 12 until Sept. 18, 2021. They travelled to the Beautiful Miramichi, Woodstock (oceanfront Skiff Lake), Fredericton (the capital of New Brunswick) and Riverview (on the mighty Petitcodiac River). It was a time to meet and get acquainted and give support to our Sisters and Associates in these places. Theresa and Dianne presented a prayer service Season of Creation which started Sept. 1 and ends Oct. 4, 2021. This year’s theme is “A home for all? Renewing the Oikos of God.” Oikos is the Greek word for “home,” or “household.” Oikos is also the root word for the English words, economy and ecology. Winnie Odo (past Coordinator) who accompanied us on our visitation spoke of Development and Peace and the enormous need for food, water, shelter, clothing, first aid supplies in Central American and the D&P mission. Anna Rowley, Coordinator, Central Office, also attended some sessions showing the video she prepared for the July 2021 General Chapter on Associate Relationship. This video was written to our Dearest Marguerite depicting the past and future of Associate Relationship.

She also informed our Associates about the plans for the 40th Associate Rela- tionship Anniversary commencing in Dec. 2021 and continuing into 2022. She shared the new Logo and the theme “Transforming love – Written in every heart”. Our Associates graciously provided a smorgasbord of food each day of our pilgrimage. We are most grateful to our organizers Fran Connell and Rosamound Ross-Hayter of Miramichi, Ray and Marjorie Allison- Ross of Woodstock, Sr. Eleanor McCloskey and Carole Dilworth of Fredericton and Al and Corrine Kavanaugh of Riverview NB. It was a joy and an honour to meet with our Associates who for health reasons were unable to attend. Thank you to our Uber drivers Rosamond for taking us to visit our Miramichi associates and Sr. Eleanor McCloskey for joining us in visiting Sr. Charlotte Lockhart who was celebrating her 101 birthday. They shared their story with us and we al- ways closed with the Novena to our Saint Marguerite. A huge thank you to our Sisters and Associates who made us feel welcomed and shared their hospitality. We hope to continue our visitation in Nova Scotia in October pending COVID guidelines.
